Sunlight filtering through the window over his bed woke Seth up. Bleary eyed, he scanned the far wall of his room, looking for the table upon which his alarm clock was settled. Bright red, neon letters glared back at him, nine forty nine, with a little dot in the bottom left hand corner indicating this was in the AM. Seth yawned and rolled over, burying his face in his pillow for a moment while he waited for the faint traces of sleep to leave his body. Rather than wake up, he began to fade back into sleep…that was until a loud CLUNK, followed by someone cursing sounded outside. Seth’s lips twitched into a smile as he raised himself from his bed, yawned once more, then stretched the sore muscles in his back.
Beside the door was a pare of shoes, into which Seth slipped his feet, not bothering with socks. He didn’t so much as bother to pull the shoes on properly. His heal crushed the back of the shoes creating an uncomfortable bulge…not that he seemed to mind any. Still wearing his pajama pants and old tattered t-shirt, Seth headed out front, where his dad was working on his mom’s car. Only the day before she’d been unable to start it, in turn being late for work. Seth had give her his guess, but had insisted that his father look at it. Seth thought that was just ridiculous, and his dad was busy often times too! There were plenty of people on the rez who could give her a second guess on it. If she really wanted one. It was completely unnecessary!
A fascination of Seth’s was mechanics. He liked tinkering with engines, and small electronics. He wasn’t very good with electronics, and was doing what he could to learn more on that matter…but engines were easy…to an extent. He was confident that his diagnosis on Hildie had been correct. His guess had been that she needed a new starter. It had sounded like engine was still trying to turn over, jumpstarting the battery hadn’t helped…it was the most likely problem.
A pare of jean clad legs were sticking out from beneath the truck. The size of the person beneath the old 1955 Crown Victoria told him that it wasn’t his dad. Then there was the small matter of the style of the jeans. Seth neared the car and leaned his elbows against the edge of the car, on the metal rim surrounding the engine, and looked down through the empty spaces between the engine to see who his mom had called.
“So what’s the damage?” He inquired, finally giving up on trying find out who was there. Their face was hidden beneath the oil pan. Seth sagged slightly. If they were doing something with the oil pan, if they needed to get under the car, then it probably wasn’t the starter. Unless…they COULD just be changing the oil to be nice?

IN THE BRIDGES HE BURNED or the way that she died
A small figure was hopping around her home madly trying to find a pair of shoes that were matching. It was highly annoying forever losing things because she was in such an upheaval, but hey it was part of life. She was living with her parents but they told her pretty soon she'd have to go and stay with her cousins, spend some time on their turf so they didn't have to keep coming to hers instead, it wasn't fair. She remembered clearly sighing but secretly being thrilled at the idea of seeing more or Seth and Leah, lord knows she missed them when they didn't come to visit regularly enough. Seth was such a cute boy and Leah had long since stood as Emily's closest friend, she wondered if that would ever change actually.
Finally finding two white sneakers that she thought were matching she slipped them on her feet and began the frantic search for some kind of jacket that could act as a buffer between her and tugged her jeans up over her bottom half again. She was heading down to La Push for one reason and one reason only, she needed to get off the Makka. Seeing the same people over and over again was nice and she liked to know everyone but really sometimes it felt like she was being suffocated by the small community and the way everyone seemed to watch her, just encase she should get hurt. Everyone was protective and Emily had always been one to like her freedom.
When she was finally ready to leave she heaved a sigh of relief and grabbed her bag, skipping out the door without even bothering to tell her parents where she was going at such an early hour in the morning. Emily had always been an early riser, and she always would be so they had just stopped asking after a while, she merely left them to sleep now. Her keys were hanging on the hook just inside the door and she grabbed them just as it closed, pleased to have had the sudden rush of intelligence before the door shut.
Jumping in her car she pressed the key in and was off, escaping the reservation walls and beginning to trundle up the hill towards the other reservation, La Push. She really had no clue where she was going, she was simply wandering down there and hoping to find something to do, or someone to spend some time with. Before she truly knew what was happening she appeared to be pulling up outside the Clearwater Residence. Laughing at her own instincts she jumped gracefully from the car, remembering a phone call she had recieved earlier that week, from Seth's Mom. She'd told her Seth's car wasn't ticking over as it should and so being who she was that was the first thing she chose to go and have a look at. She knew a little about car engines from what she had picked up over the years, so she might as well give it a go as she was likely to be the only person not done for trespassing. After all she was family.
When she heard the voice above her she smiled to herself and put down the wrench she had been wielding with what she hoped was the correct motion. She was just the sub, if she could get it running then great, if she couldn't Seth's Mom would call a proper mechanic. Sliding out from underneath the car she grinned cheerily up at her cousin, her dark hair spilling out as she lifted herself into a sitting position. "Good morrow Cousin," she laughed, quoting from Romeo and Juliet for comic effect.
