He had finally made the decision to come back to school. With the support and urging of his family, he was able to accept the fact that he probably could do this. He could possibly keep on living the way he had before, only now he was going to have to be more careful than usual. He had made an agreement with his family. If Alice saw his mind wavering even a little bit, the others were to remove him from the area as soon as possible. And if they found that Edward struggled too much, they would all leave. He really hoped they never had to do that. Just thinking about it made him wince. No, he simply refused that option. No sense in thinking about it. They would do what they had to, when they had to.

It was easier at the moment to think of his being able to be here as a possibility. He wouldn’t be in contact with Bella until later in the day, probably during lunch time. That was when he had first laid eyes on her, but at that time her scent hadn’t hit yet. If he had waited long enough in that warm cafeteria, it would have. Thinking of that made him shiver slightly. It might have been better if it had happened there. At least Alice would have caught onto what was happening. She might have kicked him under the table or done something to distract him. But it wasn’t like Jasper being weak against blood in general. No, this was quite different.

He had been in his normal classes for the first part of the day, pretending to be present and alert, but his mind was constantly being torn elsewhere. He didn’t give a damn about Literature, Mathematics, History or any other subject that he was forced to sit through. The one he was anxious about wasn’t until after lunchtime. That would be the true test of his willpower. He had been mentally preparing himself for it. Or trying, at least.

He heard the bell ring loudly, announcing the end of this boring class. He stood up just a bit too quickly. He caught himself, being the only one standing, and heard several minds going on at once.

–What is he rushing for?– That came from a girl across the room. –Does he have a lunch date or something...--

–Whoa, Cullen just sprang up out of nowhere...– Another said.

Another voice rang out, this one was of the teacher. –So he thinks he can just miss a whole week of school and catch up? Well, we’ll see about that. If his test scores drop at all because of it I’m going to have to talk with his father...Not that he’s not a perfect student. But their father just lets them do whatever they want. Spoiled brats. Daydreaming and dozing off in my class...–

Edward was laughing now. He picked up his books and walked right out of class. No sense in listening to all of their nonsense. That much hadn’t changed. They were still too curious about him and everything he did. He ought to be used to that. But as he walked out of the classroom, his stomach lurched. It was lunchtime. That meant that Bella was going to be in the cafeteria. He didn’t know if he should push his luck by going in just yet. Besides, he wanted to wait for his siblings before going in, just in case.

But while he stood there, he looked at the snow all around. If they were all at home, there would be nothing to stop them from throwing huge amounts of it at one another. He smiled and put his books on a bench. The scooped up the snow in his bare hands and laughed again, because his hands were not much darker than the snow. He’d probably need to feed soon, just to be safe. He formed a perfect sphere, larger than it needed to be. It would do some serious damage though, which is what he wanted. But who would be his first target? It certainly couldn't be one of the regular students. If he threw one at any of them they'd be in the hospital with a concussion.

He chuckled lightly as he held the ball of snow in both of his hands. he was probably keeping the snow cold, rather than melting it.

WE WERE YOUNG AND LEARNING, STEADY
hearts still turning, that's where we went wrong
Edward was home, and that was all that mattered to Alice. She did not care that there where on tempting meal waiting for Edward in the school, or that she was the one who had to constantly watch him all day. No nothing mattered to her, other than he was back. This was evident in her smile, that was stretched across her face and she sat cross-legged in the shot-gun seat of the silver Volvo, watching him out of the corner of her eye scared that he might decide to do the sensible option. As he was still Edward, however as they pulled at the school, Alice could not help but smirk. “Ready? If any of you see Bella, well it free-bundles on Edward” she joked, dancing out of the car, and perching on the bumper to await her brother so they could head to their first class.

Throwing her bag over her head, as Edward came round to the front of the car she gave him a reassuring smile, and followed him into their first class. Alice knew she had to as alert to Edward’s instincts as he was, as they had all agreed last night that is she saw anything, they where to get out, no matter what the situation the girls life was more important. Still Alice did it everyday, as Jasper was always at constant risk of loosing control, especially when he was testing himself. However he had recently feed and Alice had a strange faith in her brother, knowing he would do anything stupid, he was Edward. Still as the classes past, Alice would watch his day progress, walking with him to each class encase they where to cross Bella’s path. Which they did not, still Alice knew they would not…well not until lunch.

Finally as the lunch bell rang throughout the school, Alice gathered her things quickly, and rushed to the door as to be there to walk with Edward to lunch. However just as Alice’s hand reached the door, a small voice called out her name. Turning she knew who it was already; her design teacher, as small chubby women that always dressed in plaid, which was never to Alice’s tastes gestured her to come back while the others left. “Would you mind waiting behind, just for a moment” her girlie voice asked, and Alice knew she had no choice so smiled and settled into the seat in-front of her desk. “Dear I was wondering if you would possibly be interested in helping with the costumes, for local production. I know I have already offered it opening to the rest of the class, but none have quite the knack for dressing making as you do…it is like you have already taken this class ten times over.” They both laughed, though Alice knew it was for different reasons. “It should only be a couple of days after school, and in lunch-time. Not to mention it shall look good on any college application, as I surely hope you are going on to do design.

Sorry” Alice replied, gripping the edge of her bag. “Things are a little hectic at home, I am not sure I would have the time” she lied through her teeth, as the fear of being discovered as the next big thing kept her from doing something she really would have enjoyed. Rising from the chair, she apologized once more, said goodbye and jogged lightly out to the court where she knew Edward was standing, snow-ball in hand.

Reaching the door she kept her thoughts mute, not wanting to alert him to her presence. Alice moved quickly around to hide behind the hood of her silver car, and where balled up a hand-full of snow and ducked behind the hood too await the perfect shoot.

Laughing lightly as he turned she jumped up, and threw the snow-ball directly at his navel, leaving a nice big wet patch as the broke apart on contact. Smirking with delight as she watched some of the other boys wince, as Cullen got hit where it hurt, Alice pulled her bag back up onto her shoulder and danced over to him. “Nice Edward, and I always thought you where more controlled than that,” Alice grinned her eyes sparkling with mischief, as she danced back off to stand behind Jasper.

ooc . I have no idea if you guys had bundles as a kid, or maybe it was diranged thing we did in our house. But basically somebody shouts BUNDLES -insternt persons name here-, and then everyone jumps on them, and tackles them to the ground. Just thought I would add that, cos I was not sure :]

Edward was coming back to school, but Jasper wasn't as thrilled as Alice was. No, Jasper was just thrilled that Edward was home in general. He might not seem completely thrilled to the others, but Jasper had missed his brother. Even if Edward did not come back to school, Jasper wouldn't care because he was still home. The feelings in the house had brightened up considerably once his brother had returned. Jasper sat in the back of the silver Volvo, directly behind Alice, as they road on the way to school. Alice would be constantly watching out for Edward today instead of him which Jasper didn't mind in the least bit. Jasper had just recently fed and knew he would be alright.

Jasper felt the car slow to a spot as it pulled into a parking space at the school. Jasper curled one of his fingers around the handle to the door and opened it, slinging his back pack on his shoulder as he stood. Jasper and the others did not wear seatbelts as it wasn't really needed for them. With the five of them combined, there was no telling what they could do to a car if it collided with them. They also didn't have to worry about police officers for they were hardly out it seemed and it helped that they had members of their coven who could spot a police officer before they even came near them. Jasper gave Alice a kiss on the cheek before she left with Edward to go to their first class. Jasper was posing as a Senior with Rosalie and Emmett while Edward and Alice were posing as Juniors. Because of this, Jasper did not have any classes with Alice and he only saw her throughout the day at lunch. Of course, Alice saw him throughout the day usually as her eye constantly was watching him.

Jasper hated having to go through classes so many times. However, there wasn't much he could do about it. In fact, Jasper only paid half of his attention to the teacher. He listened to the teacher's question, but not to the student's response. He only listened to the teacher in case they asked him a question. The other half of his mind was roaming the emotions of the other students in his class. Quite honestly, Jasper felt the majority of the girls in this class were too materialistic. There was much bigger things to life that they had not experienced or bigger things that they just didn't know about...such as Vampires. The girl sitting two seats away from him was worried about something. Even though Jasper couldn't feel what she was worried about, he would not be surprised if it was about her nail polish being too flashy or something. She was staring down at them and picking at the polish on her nails. Jasper knew he probably shouldn't be judging people like this, but from all of his experience with the people at Forks High, it was hard not to.

Eventually, the bell rang and signalled for lunch. Jasper let out a sigh of relief -- a completely quiet one to human ears, but a sigh of relief nonetheless. Jasper exited the classroom and made his way to lunch. The closer her got to where Alice was at, the closer he felt her emotions. She seemed...completely amused with something. Jasper walked up towards Edward but did not see Alice around anywhere. But then, a snowball came flying towards Edward from the parking lot and didn't miss it's target at all. Alice popped up from behind the car and Jasper couldn't help but grin as she did so. She went to stand behind him, as Jasper was about a foot and half taller then her if not more. Jasper looked for the others knowing that this would hardly be the end of this snowball fight.

ooc; i notice that in the majority of my posts, jasper hardly says anything if nothing at all. xD haha.

Sliding out the car Emmett grinned happily. It was all working out. He laughed at his siblings, the Cullens were in extremely good moods today and it would take an idiot not to realise it. Especially of course, Emmett, who had a tendency to wear his heart on his sleeve and let the exact emotions he was feeling rage through his body. Emmett was over-joyed. He finally had his target practise back. His family were acting like a proper family and everyone was relaxed. Emmett hated it when they were all stressed. Emmett hated stress, it made everyone grouchy.

Edward was back. Emmett was happy, end of story, nothing else to say there. Edward was strong; Emmett had always known that it would not take much for him to toughen up and come back to forks. As much as Alaska was fun and all, nothing beat the confused faces of high school students running around spreading rumours about the Cullen clan. No that was definitely the most fun thing about coming to high school, day in and day out was listening to people’s “theories” none of which were near the truth, of course. Vampires were myths, and people didn’t believe in myths, though they were freaked out by the family there was no doubt.

“Ready? If any of you see Bella, well it free-bundles on Edward”

“HELL YEAH!” He joked. “I AM SOOOOO THERE! CONSIDER ME BELLA’S SWAN’S PERSONAL BODYGUARD! AND IF I NEEDLESSLY SCARE FRESHMEN, WELL, SO BE IT!” He laughed, watching as his siblings went different ways. Today was going to be an adventure that was for sure.

He made it to his first class on time, sat down and listened to the teacher rant on about stuff he had learnt and memorised a thousand times already. Emmett McCarthy had been a jock. Not interested in school and learning, but Emmett Cullen was forced to learn. Forced to know everything because he listened to everything so much. Needless to say all the Cullens were epicly smart, Edward and Carlislewere no doubt the smartest, but that didn’t mean the others didn’t give them a run for their money occasionally. Emmett listened to his lecture and left the classroom. He went on like this till lunchtime. Lunchtime was the time of day he had been looking forward to. It was when he would most likely get his free pass on Edward.

As he approached the place where he had been told to met the others he smiled. SNOW! Emmett loved snow. It was an excuse to chuck heavy white objects at his siblings and get them all wet. He grabbed a pile of snow and decided to try and sneak up on them. Not that that would be possible, with Edward reading his mind and Alice watching his future, but that did not mean he could not try. He snuck towards them, ready to pounce. Chucking the snow straight at Edward. “RAWR” he shouted flying towards them and throwing Edward to the ground. “SNOWFIGHT!” He yelled chucking snow at his brother while he was down. “Missed this bro?” He smirked down at him. Watching carefully for the signs of anger to appear. “Any minute now,” Emmett thought to himself, watching his brother carefully. Edward had a tendency to take things a little over the top, but who knew, maybe today he would cheer up and let loose. After all, the Cullen Family were back together and no tiny junior female was going to change that.

He had to admit, being back at school made him feel like he was going back to normal. True, he hadn't yet encountered her or her powerful scent, but he would wait until later before he would come up against that obstacle. It was lunchtime, but none of the Cullens or Hales ever ate anything at lunch time, so maybe spending the day outside in the snow would make for a nice change. Edward stood there for a moment, watching the white snow in his hands begin to melt. More from the actual temperature outside than any warmth coming from him, which was minuscule. He looked around in interest, wondering who his target would be. He thought suddenly that he might try and find his siblings, wherever they were in the tiny school, so that he could acquire a target.

But his eyes wandered. The cafeteria was close by, he could see just through the bleary glass of the windows. The students filed around in the small, linoleum-covered cafeteria, waiting in lines for food or snacks, none of which he would or could or would ever want to eat. In the meager sea of people that sat down or stood up, he searched for her familiar figure, One that was unfortunately burned into his memory. But he didn’t see the brunette he was looking for. And just what would you do if you did? Say hello? Say: “Hey, you know, sorry about how I acted last week towards you. I just couldn’t seem to stop thinking of killing you. So, no hard feelings? Not likely. He might have kept glancing in momentarily, just to keep an eye out, had it not been for the sudden sound that rang in his ears: Something whizzing through the air at an incredible speed.

He should have known that was going to happen. If he hadn’t been trying to find Ms. Isabella Swan in the cafeteria, he might’ve noted the presence of his ever-clever sister. But even then he might not have caught her scent quicky enough. It was his habit to close his mind off at school unless he wanted to know something specific, so he hadn’t felt her mind either. He bent over double as the incredible force of her throw hit his stone-like lower half of his body. He glanced up with a sideways smile that almost immediately broke into a laugh. He didn’t say anything out loud, instead, he wove his way easily into her mind. That doesn’t seem fair, does it? You attacking me while I wasn’t paying attention. He looked at all of the people who had seen it happen, some of them laughed out loud as the snow hit him, but when Edward turned to look at them they immediately stopped.

They were afraid of the Cullens and Hales for the wrong reasons. They saw them as elite, beautiful people who didn’t associate with anyone else. That was true of course, and people stayed away from them for that reason. Only subconsciously did they feel what they were. So when Edward looked at the laughing faces and they stopped, he always had to remember that these children just thought of him and all of his siblings as something not to be toyed with. No one was terribly afraid of Edward. He was tall, but not massive. It was Emmett that they feared upsetting. Still, Edward stood up straight and wiped the remnants of snow from his clothes. Thanks Pixie, now I’m going to look like I had an accident. He was chuckling loudly now, and starting to form another ball of snow to retaliate with. She was a girl, but she was also his sister, and she wasn’t getting off so easy.

Alice had such an unfair advantage though. If you planned to hit her with something, the only way to do it was co-op with everyone else to distract her, but even then landing a hit on her was pretty impossible. It didn’t ever stop him from trying though. Too bad they weren’t at home, the only way he could truly beat Alice was with speed, which he couldn’t use right at that moment. While at school he was constantly aware how fast he moved, or how much force he used to do things. Even now he had to be somewhat careful in how he threw the snow. If he threw too hard it would fall apart in the air, just from the speed of the wind as it passed, like a meteor through the atmosphere.

His mind was open now, but only selectively. He quickly assessed the area for his siblings. Alice he felt, Jasper too. He held his rather massive ball of snow in his hands, shaping and crushing it into a perfect sphere. But again, another attempt was wasted. Emmett came charging at him from the side and threw him to the ground. He fell over with a louder than normal slam, and let out and involuntary, “Oof!” He tried to fight against his brother’s weight, but Emmett had another surprise in store: He slammed a handful of snow into his face, and for a split second, Edward was in shock. His face contorted in anger and competitiveness, but too happy was he to be with his family this way, and it quickly melted away into something else: Brilliant joy. “Did I miss this?” He chuckled and moved his arm up under Emmett’s shoulder and pushed harder than he needed to, hoping to throw him off. “How could I not?” He grinned and threw a fistful of snow back into the face of Emmett.

“You’d better be careful, bro. Alice is out there. She already got me, as you can see.” He chuckled, keeping his guard up. This wasn’t going to well for him, in no time at all he would be soaked from head to foot.

It was at moments like this Alice loved her gift a little too much. She could stand there safely beside her man, and catch any snowballs heading her way and duck behind Jasper before the snowball even left the persons hand. Saving her designer clothes from any water damage, though Alice had not always had this luxury, well at least not as strong as it was now. The gift had been a little harder to control in her earlier years. Images had been random, giving her only little snippets of what was to come and where few and far between. Though as the years went by and Alice grew an understanding of what she was, what she was able to do and uncontrollable desires that faced any new-borns the control of power began to grow. Now she was able to see her imamate future without problem and with deep concentration, she was able to see what was coming off in the future. Though there was the occasional vision that took over her body, the stability of her life tended to keep those at bay.

Gently snowballs where thrown around her, by hyper high school students who where obviously easily pleased. However none came anywhere near them, they where avoided at all costs, nobody wanted to get on their bad side, especially not Emmett. Mainly because of the mortals natural instincts to stay well away from them, for however peacefully their diet they where still dangerous. Though there was also the point that they where intimidating group of people, not just because of height or mussel, however much Emmett wanted to believe that was true. People saw them as the elite of school and where more than willing to accept them into the arms of the social circles of the school. However they had all but given the school a cold shoulder, keeping themselves, their fast cars and designer clothes to themselves. It was the way things had to be, it was too dangerous for any of them to associate with mortals, so they kept themselves to themselves and nobody bothered them.

Her laugh sounded before anything had happened, as she saw Emmett coming before any rawr left his lips. Gently she rapped her arms around Jasper’s bicep, as she gently nudged his side, to alert him to Emmett while Edward looked down at his wet pants. Though even though she knew what was coming, seeing Edward get a face-full of snow again, still made her laugh. However she was the only one, the Students did not do anything by gape they had never seen them all so active, or happy. They where waiting for Edward’s reaction, predicting some stony reaction that they where expecting. Though as he pushed a handful of snow into Emmett’s face, a few jaw drops. Alice just laughed, it was a rarity she was allowed to be this free in public, and she was not wasting it.

Dropping her husbands arm, knowing that it was safe to leave his side and his protection as it was not like Rose was going to jump out and throw snow at her, it was below her. Alice danced out to the two entwined bodies that belonged to her bothers, who both looking slightly wet in the face and Edward in more places than he had expected. Her laugh had now faded, but a strong grin still remained as she crouched down next to them, her copper eyes taking them in, in turn. “Emmett…careful...that would be the day, he is like a bull in a china shop” Alice smirked, picking up some snow in her hands not feeling the cold of it at all and dropped it down the back of Emmett’s shirt.

Laughing her musical laugh once more, she winked at Edward as she twirled back up to her feet. “See you later” Alice's voice sang over her shoulder, as she skipped back to her honey-haired Jasper. Kissing him gently on both cheeks, her voice uttered “I am going to lunch.” With that she danced off to the lunch hall, disappearing within giving Emmett a chance to retaliate.

When it came to noticing the most asinine and miniscule of details that were likely to drive even the most organized and level-headed individual insane, Isabella Swan should have won an award, or at least be placed in the Guiness Book of World Records; she was always prone to having her thoughts swirling with every possible random deliberation save for the expected. Instead of focusing on the notes that she should be taking at the current moment, or even the teacher's lecture, the seventeen year-old was thinking about the period that was to follow: lunch. Rather, she was inevitably wondering if the vacant spot at one particular lunch table would be void of its usual occupant once again. Edward Cullen had been absent from school for quite a while - what was it, a week now? He really was the last person that she should be noticing, but Bella really couldn't help it. There was a certain alluring quality to him that constantly left the young brunette wanting to know more and more about him, to run into him every chance that she got. Yet, at the same time, there was something that simultaneously caused her spine to tingle and make her want to stay as far away from him as she possibly could. It really was troubling; he was a contradiction in and of himself, and it was driving Bella mad.

Shaking herself out of her reverie and away from thoughts about Edward Cullen, Bella attempted to try and focus on listening the rather dull lesson. Ugh, they were all just going to be a bunch of trained monkeys - and boring monkeys at that - if they continued at the rate they were going. Nevertheless, despite her feelings about the class, she managed to scrawl down a few more lines of notes while her eyes continued to drift to the clock on the wall. Fifteen minutes...ten...five...finally. As the bell rang, signaling the end of the class, Bella practically sprung up from her chair. It wasn't so much that she was anxious to get to lunch as she was to escape the class that had just concluded. Mike and several others tossed her peculiar glances, but she simply shrugged them off and headed straight for the cafeteria, especially as someone urged her to head outside. She didn't catch who it was, but with the blanket of fallen snow covering the ground, Bella was going to stay indoors at all costs; she was not one to be fond of snowballs whizzing past her head, or even anywhere remotely close to her body.

As she approached the cafeteria doors, Bella felt her heart inevitably begin to beat a bit faster in anticipation at what, or rather who, lurked on the other side. Perhaps he wasn't even here again - she didn't even know. But the seventeen year-old's pulse quickened at the mere possibility. Walking in rather slowly, Bella willed herself not to look at the table at which the Cullens normally sat, getting her food and heading straight over to Jessica and the others. Surprisingly, her not-so-iron will was able to withstand the pressure and didn't cave as her feet made contact with the tile on the floor, making their way over to their usual lunch destination; not once did Bell lift her gaze. She did notice that Mike and a couple others were missing from their usual group - they were undoubtedly outside, creaming each other with wet snow that would have made Bella incredibly uncomfortable. Thank goodness they were out there and she was in here. "Hey guys," she greeted the table as she approached and sat down, her legs swinging to glide underneath the table. It was then that Bella's will caved, her eyes flitting over to the Cullen table. No one was there. Well, it was bound to happen - the girl was one to frequently fall victim to disappointed hopes. Turning her head back to look at the group sitting beside and around her, Bella managed a half-hearted smile. "Some snow, huh?"

Careful to avoid the snow which puddled around the car, Rosalie practically sprang from the car, eager to find dry concrete. Once the heels of her mock leather boots found dry land, her stressed features were relieved. Rosalie may have been a vampire, and was therefor immune to the weather, and she may also have been wealthy, meaning buying a second pair of boots should this pair acquire too much dirt wasn't out of the question... but all the same. The blonde wasn't fond of getting dirty, if you'd believe it after seeing her go to work on her car. Correction: Rosalie did not like getting unexpectedly dirty, or if she were wearing nice clothes. She really didn't care that she had money to spare, she liked what she bought and had no intentions of replacing them so easily.

Rosalie gave Alice a smile, her face absent of rosy cheeks and remaining as pale as ever despite the snow. A vision, not a psychic one like Alice's of course, but it was far from unrealistic, came to her then: Emmett, Jasper, Alice, and herself naturally, circling a bloodthirsty Edward and pouncing him comically. The situation would be far from humorous should it happen, but the thought was at least amusing. And should Edward pick up on it, perhaps the lightheartedness of it would soothe his nerves. At Emmett's gallant proposal, laughter streamed from Rosalie's already smiling mouth: it was a pleasant sound, not like Alice's bell chiming laughter, but a throaty, husky sound. What with the mood lightened considerably, each of the Cullen's made their way to whatever destination was in mind, Rosalie taking more time in doing so as she was careful not to allow snow to wet her clothes.

The first half of the day was spent in a bore; the Cullen siblings may have been scattered throughout the snowy building, and yet remained united through boredom. Each had gone through classes of such similar quality it was uncanny; rarely did teaching change with a speediness from semester to semester. Sometimes it took years to glean something new, but the facade was unfortunately a necessary one. It was hard to live alone, even with six other people, all of whom you loved dearly, deprived of outside social contact. There were times the Cullen's did live far from human contact, but eventually they always returned. Sometimes, Rosalie and Emmett went away to live on their own, oftentimes after one of their numerous weddings. Rosalie loved the ceremony and relished in the feeling of being a newlywed afterward with her one and only, and knew Emmett did as well, if only because he loved her. Truly, Rosalie was lucky to have such a supportive mate. The couple obviously wouldn't be rendezvousing any time soon, however, due to the support Edward desperately needed. Although, maybe after this whole ordeal passed? Who knew?

Soon the bell was ringing for dismissal and lunch, and quietly Rosalie exited the classroom, her purse swinging in time with her walk at her side. She was clad in dark, skinny jeans that tucked into the knee length black boots, and a black matching jacket that hid her green sweater from view. Rosalie was an actress (she certainly looked the part, with her long, shimmering blonde hair reaching her tail bone), and these were her props. She wasn't at all cold, nor warm for that matter, merely average, her own body generated a coolness unconsciously observed by the student body, most of whom turned to take a second glance at the cold, golden haired student. If the Cullen's were eccentric for one thing (although there were undoubtedly many) it was for their beauty. Each member of the Cullen family was extraordinarily beautiful, in their own intricate way. Rosalie, however, was a little more well known for this trait, what with her tall, statuesque figure and elegant features.

Rosalie was drawn to her family almost subconsciously, gliding through the scurrying students toward the group of playful, snow befallen vampires in disguise. It was all too late she discovered what the four were up too, causing Rosalie to immediately shrink back. "Don't hit me!" She pleaded, taking cover behind the car as Emmett attacked Edward with a bountiful amount of snow, the latter returning the favor. Rosalie really, really, really disliked getting dirty, it wasn't snow or sand or mud she minded, in fact she really did enjoy outdoor activities like making snow angels, building snowmen, sand castles, are simply trekking through the mud- depending on the weather. But the fact of the matter remained the same: Rosalie did not like getting dirty unexpectedly. So, when Alice voiced her exit, Rosalie decided to take her up on the offer. "Wait up," She voiced eagerly, hurrying to follow Alice, weary of snowballs aimed for her, "I'll come with you."

It seemed that Alice’s decision to start a snowball fight was a huge hit with the entire school, so much so that people began to slowly dribble out of the nearby cafeteria to watch the spectacle before them all. Never in their short time while attending Forks High School could any of them remember a time when they saw the Hales and Cullens laughing with one another in such a way, joking. It jolted a lot of the students that watched, both from nearby and from inside the cafeteria. If Edward hadn’t been so preoccupied with the situation at hand, he might’ve taken note of the sudden appearance of the one he had been looking for just moments before. Instead, he let his mind filter through the thoughts surrounding him.

Is that a smile I see on Edward Cullens face? I don’t remember ever seeing a look like that in him...or, any of them...Usually they just brood and talk to one another, if at all. Naturally they don’t want to socialize with other kids their age, like me for instance. Do they ever try to include anyone else in their fun? No.

Ohh! Alice got Edward good where it hurts! Didn’t seem to phase him though. Must have been my imagination. But I never thought I’d live the day to see the Cullens and Hales in a snowball fight. I guess hell froze over someplace...

And just what do these kids think they’re doing? Snowball fights at school? They’re going to break something! I’m going to find out who started this mess and sit them down for a talk. They can’t just cause all this ruckus...Then all the kids are going to get the idea. I can just see it now...windows broken, clothes soaked, kids missing school...I just can’t allow that.

The Cullens actually have fun together? I thought they all just sat around and looked like perfect fashion models, making the rest of us look drab and stupid...

Edward laughed a bit and grinned at Emmett. “You ought to hear what they’re thinking...They think we’ve all gone crazy.” He laughed some more as Alice’s voice chimed in to warn Emmett of his temper, but also to make a timely exit. She said she was going to lunch, and at such an opportune time. “Oh sure, Alice. Did you see the principle coming or is that just a coincidence? And shall I tell him who started this whole thing, or will I be taking the fall for this one?” His auburn hair fell into his pale face in wet clumps, but he so easily pushed it out of his face in almost unbelievable perfect disarray. He didn’t think this himself, but he heard it from different angles from different people. A burden his gift most certainly was at times, but like Alice, he had moments when he absolutely loved it. Now was one of those times.

Edward shrugged as he saw the principle come into view. He shrugged his shoulders playfully and his mouth parted in a grimace that said: Oh, we’re in for it now. But who would be the one to tell on them? When asked who started the snowball fight, Edward looked all around him, picking for a squealer.

Oh yeah, like any of us are going to tell -you- who started all this fun? You’ve gotta be kidding me.

I have half a mind to tell him that the Cullens started all this...
To that Edward glanced at the plotter, with newfound challenge burning in his crystalline amber-colored eyes.

Nevermind.

Edward burst into new laughter with many others around him, all of them claiming no fault. The principle, frustrated but without any solid answers, stormed off into the cafeteria, but not before nearly slipping on the icy concrete. This, naturally, brought about new chuckles from the rather damp and dripping crowd, but even so they all began to huddle into the warm cafeteria to dry off and eat. It seemed like a good idea, because although Edward didn’t feel the bite of cold from the wet clothes or shoes, he certainly didn’t relish the thought of being wet. It just made him uncomfortable. Still, he would have to thank Alice for her thoughtful contribution on Edward’s first day back at school. It seemed to be going well enough. No murderous thoughts came to him.

But curiosity always held tightly to his mind, and his eyes wandered again into the cafeteria. He searched for any visible sign of the evasive brunette, but actively sought her mind also. His habitual breath caught as he saw her, standing in line for food and suddenly blushing and deciding to otherwise go with only a drink. Edward thought to himself, Now that couldn’t possibly be because of me, could it? Lost your appetite Miss Swan? But even as he thought that he realized he should’ve already known that. He was looking right at her. Actually, he was blatantly and outright staring at her from outside. Come on, Bella. Where are your thoughts? But no amount of encouragement relented even a single whisper of a thought. It was incredibly frustrating, but it wasn’t the largest challenge she presented.

In fact, none of his family members knew anything about that yet.

Edward cursed under his breath. But coughed loudly to cover it up.

“Yeah, let’s all go gather round our table with our play-food and pretend to eat it.” He grinned wide. “Unless someone feels like taking one for the team and paying for it later?” This of course was in reference to their hair-ball reaction to food. He laughed a little bit more, but it was a little strained. He was in high spirits, that was true. But the next few hours would be a true test. He had to admit: He was pretty damned scared.
