THE STUPID CLOUDY-NESS
that always gets in the way of having fun

Embry sighed heavily as he stared out the window of his room. It was yet another cloudy day in the small village that some refer to as La Push. Embry pushed off of his bed, in need to do something. He looked around. There was nothing to do at all. A small smile came to his lips, he decided it would be good to get out. Even if it looked like it was going to start down pouring as soon as he walked out the door. Embry walked out of his room and shut the door as he made it though.

Embry looked around his house, he lived with his mother in a one story little house. It wasn’t the greatest but it was perfect for the two people that did live their. He smiled lightly, his mom wasn’t there. She was out working so he decided to leave a note so that if he wasn’t back by the time she got home that she wouldn’t be worrying to much. He walked into the kitchen and grabbed a piece of paper and a pen. He jotted down that he was going to the cliffs to just look out and maybe explore. He was happy with what he wrote down, so he grabbed a jacket just in case and headed out the door. Locking it as he left.

He walked out of his house, and kept on walking. Thinking it a good idea just to walk other than to drive, which he couldn’t do just yet. He didn’t have his actual licenses yet. He’d have to wait a little bit to get that. So he kept on walking, heading towards the beach that lead to the cliffs. It was always a good place to go to if you just needed to relax or think. But he didn’t really need either, he just wanted to get out of his house.

After what seemed like forever, the beach and the cliffs came into view. Embry smiled, ’Just a little further.’ He thought. Embry took a glance up at the sky, it looked like it might just rain. ’Ugh, please don’t let it rain! I’ll be drenched.’ Embry thought again, and walked faster towards the cliffs. At least up their, there was shelter a bit if it did start raining he could always go under the tree’s not to get wet, but if it started lightening out then he’d have to go home.

Finally Embry made it to the cliffs. ”Finally.” He mumbled to himself. He walked over to the edge and sat down, his feet dangling off the edge. He looked down, and almost shuddered at how far the drop was. If you weren’t ready for that, drop then it would scare the heck out of you and plus the waves were all crazy, and would be terribly cold. But some part of Embry wanted to go and try it, bet it was the teenage boy in him. He smiled to himself, debating silently whether or not to try and maybe jump it when a noise broke his concentration. He turned to see what or who it was.

IN THE MORNING I SWEEP ALONE
I sweep the streets I used to own
It was like any other day in la-push, cold, drizzly, overcast and not a chance of sun. On a normal day like this Leah might be found under her boy-friends arms, cooing about how tall he had recently gotten. However he was nowhere to be found and Leah’s head could be found in a car’s engine. Her Jeep has taken a turn for the worst and due to the lack of a job she had no money to take it to the garage. Seth had suggested taking it to one of the local boys, but Leah was far too proud to ask for help, reassuring her brother that she was sure that is was something to do with the oil. When really she had no clue whatever as to what was causing her car to keep stalling.

However as the minutes ticked by the engine all seemed to blend together, and the fumes made her head spin. Simply she could not make head or tail of anything, Leah needed help. Stepping back from the car, she pulled the hood down, and headed back into the house. Running lightly up the stairs, she grabbed her jacket, phone and keys before heading back out to find on of the local boys, or more her extended family. La Push was a small community where every knew each other, some more than others due to extending from the old tribes, but still Leah would not pass anyone who did not know her.

Pushing her hands into her pockets, her mind began to drift, as her dark eyes caught sight of Old Quil. His stories both fascinated her, and bored her to tears. As a kid she could not help but me fascinated with the stories he told, of men transforming into wolves, people falling in love at first sight, it was all magical through her childs-mind. Though as she grew, she became more cynical of the stories. It sounded all so unbelievable, even if she knew that some of the elders where strong in their beliefs banishing the Cullen’s from their lands. Still Leah found it all too hard to believe, taking the argument, where is the proof?

Before she knew it she was standing on the edge of the beach, where she had been sure she would have found on the lads. Sadly however it was deserted, apart from a few immature forks kids, who would not be able to help her out a paper bag. Sighing gently to herself, Leah wondered along the shore line hoping that something would catch her interest. Though the chance would be a fine thing, in La Push, as the most exciting thing that happened here was when Billy fell out of his wheel-chair.

Flipping a loose strand of raven hair, Leah took the path up the hill that lead to the cliffs. It was not far from the town, as was where she came to refresh her mind, when Emily was busy. The cold wind would hit her face as she stood on the edge of the cliff, feeling the adrenaline kicking in toyed with her body about jumping. As a pre-teen she had jumped, inspired by the movie Pocahontas. It had nearly cost Leah her life, but some inner-strength and sent her legs kicking back to the shore.

Walking through the gap in the trees her blue eyes landed on the sandy hair of one of the boys she had been looking for. “Embry” her voiced sound, honest surprise in her tone as she came out into the full light, standing right behind him.

THE STUPID CLOUDY-NESS

Embry looked to see who it was, and it wasn’t something that he didn’t expect. It was Leah. “Yup, its me.“ He smiled up at her, since he was sitting on the ground. Embry pushed himself up, making sure not to accidentally slip and go off the edge into the cold water and looked like it wanted to suck him up.

Embry dusted his pants off and gave Leah a smile. He straightened again, and looked at her. ”What a surprise to see you here Leah.” He said looking around, it was a real surprise seeing her here, she normally was with Sam or at home with her younger brother who was a year younger than him. He kicked at the dust lightly, bringing it up.

A thunder lightly rumbled from the sky. Embry looked up, the sky still looked like it was going to down pour at any minute. That would be funny at his moment. He wouldn’t really mind but he had a feeling that Leah just might. And it didn’t look like she had an umbrella either. Embry chuckled under his breath and looked back down at Leah.

Now he was taller than her, so he wasn’t looking up at her. He just smiled, ”I’m surprised that you didn’t bring an umbrella or something because it looks as its going to rain.” He said, ”And I don’t think you’d like to get soaked.” He added. Embry had a bit of an amused expression on his face, just thinking of what Leah would do if she got caught in the rain. She’d either a) freak out about it or b) not really care. He kind of hoped for a. because it would be funny to watch her over react about it.

He took a glance up at the sky again, and then back down at Leah. He was a little puzzled as to why she was here, when it looked like this outside. She had to of had a reason. ”So…” he started. ”what brings you out here anyways?” He finally asked. It was a little odd for her to be out here, and not with Sam either. He glanced around, seeing if maybe he was around, but he hadn’t made it up there yet. But no sign that Sam was around. ’Hmm…’ he thought, and looked back at Leah, waiting for her response.

((OoC: Sorry so short, I couldn't think of anything else to add. ))

IN THE MORNING I SWEEP ALONE

Leah dug her hands further into the pockets of her denim coat, as she rapped the jacket tighter around her slim figure. It was suddenly getting colder, as the clouds thickened and a storm looked more likely. Her raven hair began to gently swirl around her face, as the wind picked up and the waves crashed against the rocks. It really was going to storm and Leah really wished there was a hood on her coat, as there was no such thing as a light storm in this area. She was going to get wet, very, very wet.

Distracted by the weather, she was shocked to find herself looking up at Embry. All the boys seemed to be suddenly getting taller, and while she was not exactly small herself they where well over six-foot. It was strange especially for Leah to have all these boys taller than her, because she was so used to towering over them, due to her age. Still she smiled, feeling the strange emotion for her at the moment. “I could say the same to you; I never thought you left Jake or Quil’s side” Leah joked, but no real laugh left her lips, the corners only just twitched slightly.

“Wish I had” she replied in a nonchalant way, casting her eyes back up to the sky which had now darkened rapidly. “What girl likes getting caught out in the rain” her voice mused, as the rain dripped one, two, three times on her nose. The storm was no longer threatening, it was here, and about to open upon the two of them. A shiver shot down her spine, as she pulled the collar of her jacket up to protect herself as much as possible, though Leah knew it was not going to do any good, she was going to get soaked.

Her eyes came back to him once more, even if there was no much distance to go from the sky to his face. “Shockingly I was looking for you, I need a mechanic. My car is on the blinks, and Sam has dropped off the face of the earth or I would gotten him to do it” Leah admitted, her tone turning a little sour as the name of her boyfriend rolled of her tongue. The whole town knew they where having problems, it was hard to hide a relationship in such small town, let alone on of with one of the council leaders daughter. Leah was fed up of getting pitting looks; like she was some widower…she had not lost him yet. Though none of the signs where good, he was either wanted to end it, or he was hiding something. Leah really hoped it was the latter.

ooc . whoa this post is shockingly bad, feel free to like grab her in the next post, and run for cover.

THE STUPID CLOUDY-NESS
that always gets in the way of having fun

Embry watched as Leah brought her jacket around her body more closely, the bit of light that had happened to show on the ground was going away, probably being covered up by the clouds. The winds around them picked up and Embry looked at the sky. It was going to down pour any minute and Leah wouldn’t be happy with that. He looked back down at Leah as he heard the storm coming, and gave her a sheepish smile. He didn’t really have anything with him other than what he had on. ”I think you are going to get wet Leah.” He said and smiled. This actually might be a funny sight to see.

Embry noticed that Leah had finally got it that he was taller than her. With Leah being older than himself she had always been taller, but he had hit a nice growths spurt and he liked it. He now towered over Leah. A huge grin was now plastered on his face. Leah made a comment and he rolled his eyes, ”Yeah, yeah. Though you were always with Sam, never thought that I’d ever catch you without him.” He added, and smiled. Embry did notice that no real laugh left her lips, the corners of her lips just slightly twitched. Embry knew that, that probably wasn’t good but he didn’t have time to ask about it and she started talking again.

He nodded his head, and held back the laugh that was threatening to come out from behind his lips. ”I really don’t know. Even though it is quite funny when you guys do get trapped in the rain.” He said and smirked, Embry let out a low chuckle. He couldn’t help not laughing. He watched, amused as a few rain drops dropped onto Leah’s nose as did some on his bare arms. ”Well looks like we are going to get soaked.” He said, taking a glance up at the sky, the storm was here. They should probably get away from where they were and back to a house or something to get away from the rain.

Embry was shocked when she said that she was looking for him. What had he done wrong? Embry had a frown on his face, until she said that she need a mechanic. He smiled lightly but the sound of her voice at Sam’s name seemed a bit sour. That must have been why she was in a bad mood. ”Well, I can take a look at it.” He said, glancing up at the sky again, in the next second it was start down pouring on them.

Just then, as he had predicted, it poured. Embry ran towards Leah and picked her up. Looking like it was bridal style and ran into the woods, hoping to not get her too drowned, even though it would be funny to see her get wet he didn’t feel like hearing her complain about it for a long time. Once they were in the woods some, covered by the canopy of trees he set her down and gave her an apologetic look, he didn’t know what her reaction was going to be, so he waited. Hoping it was a good reaction.

IN THE MORNING I SWEEP ALONE
I sweep the streets I used to own

In all honestly, a little rain wouldn't bother her, though she still didn't particularly care to get wet. After all Leah had lived in La Push all her life and was all too used to the rainy atmosphere. It was just something that one had to learn to live around, and that's what everyone around these parts did. She had even heard that raincoats were a fashion sported by everyone up at the high school in Forks. "Really? I never would've guessed rain would get me wet," she said with sarcasm, though the comment was completely meant in good nature and there was nothing rude about it.

The next comment made by Embry hit her like a ton of bricks. Why did he have to mention that she was always with Sam? "Yeah..." she said softly, at a loss for words. The thing was that she really would love to be with Sam, her high school sweetheart so to speak, but lately he had disappeared. She hadn't seen him in weeks, and when she happened to stumble across him on a rare occasion he was always very brief. It was almost as though he was hiding something from her. What it was Sam was hiding, she could only guess. Leah feared the worst though, what if he didn't want to be with her anymore?

Situating her jacket even more, Leah was trying to get the full amount of coverage from it. The rain was here and it was starting out light enough but would soon get heavier and heavier. Funny indeed," she mumbled at him. Her first instinct was to tell him that she could show him funny, but she knew better than to do that especially after the little, well huge, growth spurt Embry had been going through lately. It wouldn't be wise for her to try and take that on. The rain started to pick up it's pace which caused Leah to start to inch back the way she had came from. Maybe if she made a mad dash toward her house, she'd make it in time. Just maybe.

Leah shivered. Just as Embry was agreeing to help her out with her car situation, the rain began to come down full fledged. "Thank you," she said gratefully through a shiver. Though it hurt her pride to be asking one of the village boys to help her, she had to admit that Embry was probably the best to have ran into in her hour of need; Jake probably was a better mechanic in all honesty, but he would probably never stop giving her a hard time. So it was official, once she got her car fixed, she was going to go job hunting to avoid another incident like this one. On second thought, she kept hoping that Sam would come back around, it never ashamed her to ask him for something.

Without much warning, Embry picked her up and ran the two of them into the woods. Once they were in a little ways he put her down. Leah then walked over to a nearby log and sat, resting her face in her hands. "Thanks," she said to him softly. First of all he was probably going to fix her car, so she didn't want to be snappy with him and cause him to change his mind. Second, the whole Sam ordeal really did have her down and depressed. She loved Sam and when he was around, the best in her was always brought out. She didn't want that to end. One thing that she had to look forward to was the arrival of her cousin, Emily, next week. Emily was like a sister and a best friend to her, but little did Leah know that bringing Emily around would be her biggest mistake ever.

THE STUPID CLOUDY-NESS
that always gets in the way of having fun

Embry nodded at Leah’s thanks she gave for bringing her in out of the rain. It was really starting to pour down and it probably wasn’t going to let up for a little bit. ”No problem, thought you might not really want to get wet, even though you have grown up here and probably get wet sometimes. I know I don’t much like to get soaked when I’m not prepared for it.” Embry said and rubbed the back of his head with his hand and stretched a bit. Embry had noticed that Leah had walked over to a near by log and sat down on it, he stood there and decided what he should do. She seemed really upset about the whole Sam thing. Embry kind of hopped that Sam would show up soon so that Leah would be in a much better mood around people.

He finally decided to walk over to Leah and sit next to her, he stretched his legs out in front of him He glanced over at her and put on a smile. ”So…what have you been up to lately?” He asked trying to break the silence that had started, they would probably be here for a little while before they did get to go over to her house so he could look at her car, even though he would admit that Jacob was probably better at that sort of stuff, but Embry could handle it…and if not Jacob was just a call away. ”Leah, are you sure you want me to be the one fixing your car? Or would you rather have Jacob? I can call him if you want…” He said, trying to see what she wanted.

The sound of thunder came to his ears, he would of jumped but he had had been waiting for it to come at some moment, normally when it came down this hard it thundered and probably would start lightening, they would soon have to leave if it started lightening out, not the smartest idea to be surrounded by trees when it was lightening. He for sure didn’t have an early death wish, and he didn’t plan on dying young. He still had a lot to live for.

Embry looked over at Leah, ”If it starts lightening we need to go. I don’t want to get caught in that, I don’t have a death wish today.” He said and laughed lightly.
